Mussoorie- A Hill Station.
State-Uttaranchal[Uttarakhand]
INDIA.
Before I give official information about this beautiful hill station of India, I want to add my views about India. India is known as warm country of Asia. But I believe more you explore and know about India , you come to know that India is like a ‘Mini World’ in itself geographically. Most of the time in whole year it is warm here but we have many places where snow fall occurs in Himalayan region. When it is cold wave for few months in entire country, we have desert area of Thar in the state of Rajasthan. We have two places in North east India which are Cherrapunji and Mawsynram, known as the places that receive highest rainfall in the world.(presently it is Mawsynram on first place and Cherrapunji second now, but in my childhood I read that it was Cherrapunji the number one in the world for receiving highest rainfall). We have famous coastal areas too. We have world famous beaches of Goa and peaceful beaches of State of Odisha. There are a lot more to add but as this post is about the ‘Queen of Hills’ ie Mussoorie, the famous and one of the most beautiful hill stations of India, so let’s go to this beautiful place through this post. I won’t be surprised if anyone of you plans to visit this place after knowing all the natural beauty of it. :)
In 1820, Captain Young of the British army was influenced by the beauty of this place and made it his residence. The name, Mussoorie is derived from plants of 'Mussoorie' which were found in abundance here. After its discovery, this hill station gradually developed as a centre of education, business, tourism and beauty.
If you have read Wordsworth, These lines will come to your mind during the tour of Mussoorie.
Wordsworth lines:
“I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thought
what wealth the show to me had brought”
what wealth the show to me had brought”

*Gun Hill*
Gun Hill- About Gun Hill - Gun Hill is one of the popular tourist attractions of Mussoorie, possessing historical significance dating back to pre-independence.
It is believed that a canon was fired from the place at a fixed time on every afternoon. This firing at the hill provided an idea of time to the local residents of the destination and they adjusted their watches accordingly.
Situated at a height of 400 ft above The Mall, the location presently houses a water reservoir of the destination. Tourists can witness snow capped peaks of Himalayas and The Mall on either side of the place.
Gun Hill can be easily reached by taking a ropeway ride, which is operated frequently for transfer of passengers. In addition to this, tourists can also cover a path from The Mall to reach the location by foot
